Over 20 Years of Excellence in Guiding Big Game Hunts in Alaska
High Cache Alaskan Outfitters's secluded cabin is located in the hills 50 miles north of Koliganek, Alaska, which is up in the headwaters of the Nushagak River. This river gets all species of salmon, rainbow trout, Dolly Varden trout, northern pike, and grayling.
Our Deposit Policy
At High Cache Alaskan Outfitters, a 25% deposit down payment is required as a standard payment term. Another 25% of the fee must be paid on January 1st, and the last 50% is due 60 days before the hunt.
Note that these hunts are nonrefundable. However, you can find another hunter to take your place for the guided trip.
The Local Hunting Season
At High Cache Alaskan Outfitters, we aim to provide the finest hunting experience for our clients. That is why we highly encourage people to schedule their trips during the ideal hunting season for the big game animal they want to hunt.
For Moose Hunts
Moose hunting trips for nonresident hunters last 10 days, starting on September 5th and ending on September 15th.
For Bear Hunts
Brown bear hunts last for 10 days. The ideal hunting season in Spring is throughout May. Meanwhile, the best time to hunt this big game animal during fall is from August 20 to September 25.
For Wolf Hunts
Wolf hunts typically last for seven days. The perfect hunting season for this animal starts on February 20th and ends on March 20th.
Travel Details
After arriving at Anchorage, you will stay overnight there so that you and your group can fly out to the village of Koliganek in the morning to get settled at our cabin and start the hunting trip.
Special Instructions for Moose Hunters
Permit Acquisition
You and your hunting party must fly from Anchorage to Dillingham first to pick up a moose registration permit at the Fish and Game office. Then, your group must fly to Koliganek, where our guide will meet up with you and jet boat everyone to our camp.
Hunting Trip Preparation
We recommend mailing some of your hunting gear to Koliganek beforehand so you don’t have to carry your equipment on your journey to this place. You can also ship your gear back home after the hunt.
Return Travel
On September 16, a plane will fly you from Koliganek to Anchorage.

Gust Tunguing Jr. is an avid hunter who owns and runs High Cache Alaskan Outfitters. Born and raised in Koliganek, Alaska, he knows the history of the land. He utilizes this knowledge to successfully hunt on the Nushagak River or guide a hunting party.
